"It is important to draw wisdom from many different places. If you take it from only one place it becomes rigid and stale."

"If you believe everything I say, then you are a fool. Your job is not to believe me, but to prove me right or prove me wrong."

Reflections on acting

Recently, I've been thinking about my past plays and the casts that brought it through. To be in a play is an interesting thing, because an actor can do so much, pretending to be someone else, and at the end of the day still be themselves (if they do it right).
Mainly, I've been thinking about the friendships I've made in the plays I've done. Those friendships are some of the best there are, because you get to know so much about those you work with, and they know a lot about you. Even after the play is done, it is the friendships that you remember most.

Hey, what's going on?

If you're a regular subscriber to this blog -regular being "following for the last three days of its existence"-then you may be wondering what is going on with the background (if this is your first view, the back picture is usually a forest picture).
Actually, it will be my writing background, proclaiming that I have a new chapter of a book, or maybe an opinion paper for a class, or something in that category. Because they may be posted at random, this will be a simple way for them to be known. When you see them, please comment on them, so that I can learn to write better (that's right, this is schoolwork =)). After a day or two, it will return to normal.
Today, however, it is announcing the arrival of the first food picture in the "My Latest Food Creation" segment. Hope you enjoy it!

Ah, to be homeschooled. . .

Today at church, my Sunday School class was talking about how their first week of school was really hard. I can understand that (after all, most of their classrooms had no air-conditioning), but it seems funny to me because I've been doing school since July!
In my house, Summer Vacation is the entire month of June, and then it's "back to the old grind," as they say. However, Winter Vacation is all of December, so I'm not complaining. Actually, I enjoy having school in the summer because, after a month, I get bored of the usual things to do (such as reading, TV, and. . . well, reading). So, not just because my house is air-conditioned, I have enjoyed the "first week" of school.

Joseph and his Amazing Technicolor Stage!

Not good quality camera; use your imagination
Recently, my Shakespeare class and I returned from an amazing day at Hale Center Theater: A backstage tour and performance of Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat! They showed us the Dance Hall,
the Comedy Hall,
and the green room,

but the highlight was their million-dollar, round stage! It was outfitted with lights, sections of it could rise and descend as needed, and the whole thing could spin, allowing the entire audience to get a good look at that coat!
The play itself, though, is spectacular! The music and the choreography are top notch, and the special effects are definitely worth seeing. I would recommend it to anyone who has the time and the money to see it (though I'm not sure how much tickets cost).
